The beloved Ruthie’s All-Day in Arlington is set to open a second location in the coming months, expanding its popular all-day dining concept to a new neighborhood.

Said by some to be one of the best restaurants in the area, Ruthie’s All-Day will soon open its second location NOVA location. This one’s at Fairfax Corner.

Construction is finishing up at 11951 Grand Commons Ave., and the restaurant expects to open at the end of March or beginning of April.

The first location opened in 2020 at 3411 5th St. S. in Arlington. The concept was created by owner and chef Matt Hill alongside owner and general manager Todd Salvadore.

“We wanted to create a family-friendly restaurant where me and my family would want to go dine… the kids are comfortable, but we can get the parents eating great food,” Hill said.

Why Fairfax over another location? For starters, Hill’s wife was raised in Fairfax County. “We’ve got a lot of roots there,” he explained. He also mentioned that many customers at their Arlington location are from the Fairfax area. “We wanted to give them a closer place.”

You can also expect new menu items at the Fairfax location; however, the staples that we know and love aren’t going anywhere.

“We’ll do a few different things to the menu, but not a lot. The core items will still be there.” Hill said.

Curious what to order when the new location opens? While Hill says every dish is close to his heart, he gave a special nod to one fan favorite in particular — the brisket.

“It takes up to 14 hours to really make it great,” he explained. “It’s really a tough cut of beef that we transform, like alchemy, to make it really nice and tender and beautiful.”
