According to AAA, NOVA’s average gas price was $4.087 as of Monday, April 13.

The good news? Northern Virginia offers plenty of food and drink options that you can enjoy for that price or less.

Food

You can get a $2 bagel from the Chewish Deli in Alexandria. Most cream cheeses or spreads range from $0.50 to $2. I’d opt for an asiago bagel with roasted garlic cream cheese.

Most of the tacos at Mexicali Blues in Arlington are $4. Choose from al pastor, barbacoa, carnitas, chicken tinga, chorizo, grilled chicken, mushroom, ground beef, veggie, and vegan chorizo.

If you go to BW’s Pub & Grill in Ashland on a Wednesday, you’re in luck. That’s because it’s $1 Wing Wednesday. You do have to get at least five, but close enough.

We’re cheating a little bit, but we still wanted to share this pupusa for $4.50 at Cerritos Pupuseria in Chantilly.

Drink

During happy hour at P.J Skiddos in Fairfax, you can get $3.50 14-oz house drafts, $4 house wine, and $4 house liquor with soda or juice. Happy hour takes place from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the bar and patio.

A cortado for less than $4? Count us in. At De Clieu Coffee & Sandwich, which has a location in Fairfax and Reston, many of the drinks are under or around $4; the cortado is $3.80, and the espresso macchiato is $3.65. While it’s over $4, a latte is $4.65.

Nettie’s Tavern in Arlington offers $3 mugs from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday nights. Not to mention $0.50 wings on Mondays from 6 to 9 p.m. and $2 bellinis with brunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends.
