Warmer weather is finally here... I mean, at least for a couple of days. Take advantage and grab a seat at one of these 22 Northern Virginia patios.

Ada’s on the River | Alexandria | Partially shaded
Set right on the banks of the Potomac River, this patio offers the ideal spot to relax outdoors. Whether you’re enjoying brunch, lunch, dinner, or happy hour, the view is always a part of the experience.

Ned’s New England Deck | Fairfax | Partially shaded
Take a trip to Maine, I mean Fairfax, and grab yourself a lobster roll while sitting in the sun. Not to mention that there is a Baskin-Robbins next door, perfect for a sweet treat after your meal.

Port City Brewing | Alexandria | Partially shaded
With its laid-back vibe, this spot is perfect for families — kids and pets are always welcome. While you relax with one of their many craft brews, the little ones can dig into tasty tacos from their partner, La Tingeria.

News Notes

Mansion Monday

This Purcellville home feels like you’re in the Italian countryside. Set on almost 44 acres of land, there’s so much going on at this $9.5 million property. Maybe start with the horse stables? Or the pool? How about the wine cellar? See for yourself.

Plan Ahead

The National Park Service announced that it expects cherry blossoms to peak between March 29 and April 1 this year. This contradicts The Washington Post, which says peak bloom will arrive between April 3 and 7. Regardless, stop and smell the flowers around NOVA.

State

Want to make the most of spring? Just under three hours from downtown Arlington, the annual Gloucester Daffodil Festival returns the last weekend of March. And the best part? Admission is free. From a daffodil-themed parade to a dog show, there’s something for everyone to enjoy while celebrating the season in full bloom. (Secret DC)

Seasonal

After losing an hour of sleep this past weekend, it’s time to make it worth it. Now that the sun is setting after 7 p.m. again, we can spend more time exploring NOVA’s beautiful trails. If you need some inspo, our events calendar will be full of outdoor fun for the foreseeable future.

Film

Cue the theme music. Warner Bros. is planning a film adaptation of “Game of Thrones,” set 300 years before the events of the iconic series. While we wait, NOVA’s museums are the closest things we’ve got to a Westeros-bound teleport. (The Guardian)

Pets

Why did the chicken cross the road? To become friends with a pack of dogs, apparently. We can’t guarantee your pup will make friends of the poultry variety, but they’ll still have a good time at NOVA’s dog-friendly businesses. (Guardian)

The Word

Swiftie. The term is officially in the dictionary, defined as “a fan of the music of Taylor Swift.” While Swift isn’t set to perform in Northern Virginia anytime soon, there are plenty of other upcoming concerts to look forward to in NOVA. (USA Today)
