Alternative + indie

King Princess | Friday, Oct. 31 | 9:30 Club, DC | This artist rose to fame in 2018 with a breakout single titled “1950.” She blends genres like classic rock, soulful pop, and indie into her music.

Bird and Byron | Saturday, Dec. 20 | Jammin Java, Vienna | Childhood friends Blake Bergere and Nick Lorenz have come together to form this Nashville-based duo. Don’t miss them on their “Steadyrock Dreamers” tour.

Gregory Alan Isakov | Saturday, Jan. 24 | The Anthem, DC | If you are looking for a chill concert, this is the artist for you. Get your tickets for this special acoustic performance.

Peter McPoland | Tuesday, Feb. 24 | 9:30 Club, DC | After rising to prominence through social media, this American singer-songwriter is touring for his newest album, “Big Lucky.”

The Last Dinner Party | Tuesday, April 7 | The Anthem, DC | This British band fuses indie with both pop and rock elements. They will be touring for the release of their new album, “From The Pyre.”

Rock

Portugal. The Man | Friday, Dec. 5 | The Anthem, DC | Known for their Grammy-winning hit “Feel It Still,” this group blends indie rock with psychedelic elements. Their newest album, “SHISH,” comes out on Friday, Nov. 7.

The Allman Betts Band | Monday, Dec. 8 | Capital One Hall, Tysons | This Southern rock group was formed by the sons of Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts, which is where the group’s name originates from. They add a modern twist to the legacy of the Allman Brothers Band.

The Flaming Lips | Wednesday, Dec. 31 | The Anthem, DC | With a career spanning over three decades, you won’t want to miss this legendary band. Hear classics like “Do You Realize??” and “Fight Test” at this popular venue.

Folk

Of Monsters and Men | Monday, Nov. 3 | The Anthem, DC | You may know them from their hit single “Little Talks,” and since then, they’ve released several albums, with their most recent, “Pain in the Mouse Parade,” coming out this year.

Joshua Burnside | Saturday, Nov. 8 | Jammin Java, Vienna | Drawing inspiration from artists like Bon Iver, Ben Howard, and Sufjan Stevens, this Northern Irish singer is coming to the DMV. Hear various songs of his, including those from his most recent album, “The Teeth of Time.”

Evan Honer | Monday, March 9 | 9:30 Club, DC | This artist gained traction during the COVID-19 pandemic after going viral for his cover of Tyler Childers’ “Jerset Giant.” He’s now released three albums, with the third one, “Everything I Wanted” which came out this past September.

Turnpike Troubadours | Friday, Nov. 7 | The Anthem, DC | With songs about life, love, and small-town experiences, this is a classic, American country band. Editor Ava, here — my favorite song of theirs is “Good Lord Lorrie.”

The Del McCoury Band | Friday, Jan. 16-Wednesday, Jan. 21 | The Barns at Wolf Trap, Vienna | This band’s career has spanned over the last five decades, bringing bluegrass to larger audiences. Hear classics like “The Train is Bound for Glory” and “Sweet Appalachia.”

Yonder Mountain String Band | Thursday, Feb. 19-Friday, Feb. 20 | The Barns at Wolf Trap, Vienna | Blending elements of rock, bluegrass, and improvisation, this band is known for its live performances.

Pop

SEVENTEEN | Wednesday, Oct. 29-Thursday, Oct. 30 | Capital One Arena, DC | This South Korean boy band consists of 13 members divided into vocal, hip hop, and performance units, each contributing to their dynamic and versatile sound.

Amaarae | Friday, Nov. 21 | The Anthem, DC | Mixing both pop and R&B genres, don’t miss this artist known for her experimental production. Her newest album, called “BLACKSTAR,” came out in August of this year.

Zara Larsson | Tuesday, March 31 | The Anthem, DC | Famous for songs like “Lush Life” and “Never Forget You,” this artist just released her newest album, “Midnight Sun.” Don’t miss seeing this album and other songs live.

Latin

Christian Nodal | Tuesday, Nov. 4 | EagleBank Arena, Fairfax | Blending traditional mariachi sounds with modern pop, get tickets to hear this Mexican singer and songwriter.

La Santa Cecilia | Saturday, Nov. 15 | Center for the Arts, George Mason University | This Grammy-winning band from Los Angeles blends Latin, rock, and jazz elements in its music. Among their many songs, they have one in the Disney movie “Coco” called “Un Mundo Raro.”

El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico + Grupo Niche | Friday, Nov. 21 | EagleBank Arena, Fairfax | Don’t miss the unforgettable fusion of salsa legends as both groups come together for a foot-tapping performance.

Camila | Thursday, Dec. 4 | EagleBank Arena, Fairfax | This Mexican pop-rock band is known for its catchy melodies, which blend romantic ballads and contemporary sound. You may hear classics like “Mientes” or “Todo Cambió.”

R&B + reggae

Leon Thomas | Sunday, Nov. 16 | The Fillmore Silver Spring, Silver Spring | Combining elements of jazz, blues, and soul, this artist offers a unique style for his listeners. His newest album comes out tomorrow, Oct. 24.

Musiq Soulchild | Monday, Dec. 8 | The Birchmere, Alexandria | Don’t miss this artist at this popular NOVA venue as he combines soul, R&B, and hip-hop.

Gabby Moreno | Friday, Jan. 23 | The Barns at Wolf Trap, Vienna | This Honduran singer-songwriter blends the blues with jazz and Latin elements. She performs songs in both English and Spanish.

Orchestral

Gil Shaham, violin + Akira Eguchi, piano | Tuesday, Dec. 2 | The Barns at Wolf Trap, Vienna | This performance commemorates 300 years of the Wolf Trap’s German Barn. The performance will be followed by a dinner to support the Wolf Trap’s art and education programs.

“Home Alone” in concert with the National Symphony Orchestra | Tuesday, Dec. 9 | The Anthem, DC | What better way to celebrate the holidays than with this concert inspired by the beloved Christmas movie. Get your tickets now and get in the spirit.
