These aren’t your average bars. If you’re looking to spice up your cocktail outing, check out these eccentric bars around Northern Virginia for a new experience.

The Naisho Room
This new speakeasy is located in the oddest location — the gym of The Watermark Hotel in Tysons. Well, not exactly in the gym, but rather through a gym. The Tokyo-inspired nightlife lounge has been blowing up the internet for its quirky location and tasty food + drinks.

Shipgarten
This outdoor biergarten in McLean is the perfect spot to hang out with your friends and family. What makes it quirky, you may ask? You order your food and drinks out of old shipping containers. Make sure to check it out soon — it may not be around for much longer.

The Board Game VA
Got games? Well, this spot in Arlington definitely does. Grab a beer from their on-site craft brewery while playing one of their many games. We’re going for Monopoly. They also host various events, such as trivia on Tuesdays.

1969
Located in the basement of Astro Beer Hall in Arlington, this 1960s-themed bar is not to be missed. It truly feels like you’ve traveled back in time, with ‘60s art on the walls, a usable dial payphone, and even a typewriter. There are also a ton of classic bar games, including darts and pool.

The Auld Shebeen
Instead of flying across the Atlantic Ocean to go to Ireland, just head to Fairfax City for this traditional Irish pub + restaurant. Tip: make sure you go when there’s live music to get the full experience.

Hawk + Griffin
Maybe you’ve been to Ireland, but haven’t had a chance to check out London. Look no further. Hawk + Griffin emulates an authentic London pub experience right in Vienna. Get yourself a pint of Fuller’s London Pride paired with fish and chips.

Surreal Global Kitchen
While this spot, located in Arlington, is technically a restaurant, we had to include it in our roundup. As soon as you walk inside, you are surrounded by lush greenery and a ton of natural light, thanks to the huge windows that surround the space. We’ll take one of the Enchanting Illusions made with Aperol, Limoncello, citrus honey, club soda, and sparkling wine.
