While the Washington Commanders are not in this year’s Super Bowl, the team has competed in five Super Bowls. Here’s the history of each Super Bowl game.

1973 Super Bowl

The Washington Commanders, previously known as the Washington Redskins, lost to the Miami Dolphins in the seventh Super Bowl with a score of 14-7 on Jan. 14, 1973.

A decade later, Washington earned a chance at redemption. On Jan. 30, 1983, the Commanders met the Dolphins once again. This time, Washington won, defeating Miami 27-17 to capture the franchise’s first Super Bowl title.
