If you’re on the hunt for some local art, check out the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria. | Photo by NOVAtoday
Did you know that Alexandria is home to the largest publicly accessible working art studio in the United States? Tucked along the Potomac River, the Torpedo Factory Art Center includes three floors of studios for local artists, where they create pieces like paintings, sculptures, and jewelry. I’m hoping to take one of these art classes, specifically the metal jewelry class.

Ballston residents can soon enjoy the NYC-based chain Maman. | Photo by NOVAtoday
Walking around Arlington’s Ballston neighborhood last week, I saw signage for a new Maman location located between AVA Ballston Square apartments and Grazie Grazie, across from Hawkers Asian Street Food. Maman currently has three locations in NOVA: Arlington’s Court House neighborhood, Old Town Alexandria, and the Mosaic District in Fairfax. I’m a fan of the seasonal homemade hazelnut latte with candied hazelnut bits.
