The annual Clarendon Day event will take place this Saturday, Sept. 27, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

You can check out the event at Clarendon Metro Park and an additional eight blocks in the surrounding area. Parking will be free at the Mason Square Van Metre Garage from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Mansion Monday

This 1914 home is back on the market after 25 years. Located at 2100 Mount Vernon Ave. in Del Ray, the main property is 3,020 sqft, and the secondary building, yep, that’s right, is 1,530 sqft. (Alexandria Living Magazine)

Two words: mechanical bull. A new country-themed bar, BOE, has opened in Clarendon at 2854 Wilson Blvd. It also features a tropical patio spot called BOE’s Tiki Bar. The soft opening is underway, with the grand opening set for Thursday, Sept. 25. (ARLnow)

Coming Soon

Pink Saffron, a new Indian restaurant, is set to replace Bun’d Up in Pentagon City. The Taiwanese eatery, along with its adjoining speakeasy, Noonchi, will close on Sunday, Oct. 19. The owner of Pink Saffron plans to open the new concept as early as Monday, Oct. 20. (ARLnow)

Holiday

Sundown tonight marks the beginning of Rosh Hashanah. The celebration runs until sundown on Wednesday, Sept. 24. Celebrate the new year by attending one of these events put on by the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington.
Fat Bear Week kicks off tomorrow, Sept. 23. Vote for the heftiest brown bear at Katmai National Park as they prep for hibernation. Join the fun at Lovettsville Library all week — just hope we don’t spot one that size on one of the local trails below.

Film

Calling all Studio Ghibli fans. The historic animation house is currently celebrating 40 years of timeless storytelling with Studio Ghibli Fest, featuring movie theater screenings of its most famous films. “Howl’s Moving Castle” is playing through Wednesday, Sept. 24, and “Spirited Away” is screening next month. Cause

Host and comedian Nate Bargatze donated $250,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of America during the 2025 Emmys, using length of acceptance speeches to determine the amount donated. Luckily for us, there’s no time limit on giving back to one of NOVA’s local chapters. (USA Today)
