Take advantage of nutrient-dense produce right in the DMV. | Photo via Area 2 Farms
Tucked away on South Oxford Street in Arlington, a 3,000 sqft facility operating in a former paper warehouse, is a local farm serving more than 200 people across the DMV. Meet Area 2 Farms.
What is Area 2 Farms?
Founded in 2021, this community farm utilizes soil-based techniques to cultivate a diverse range of produce, including root vegetables, herbs, and leafy greens.
The farm operates on a “Move the farm, not the food” philosophy. Instead of produce traveling hundreds of miles to reach grocery store shelves, losing nutrients along the way, Area 2 Farms delivers freshly harvested crops directly to nearby communities within about 10 miles of its Arlington location.
How you can get involved
Area 2 Farms is always looking for volunteers to help bring good food to the community. Sign up here to stay up-to-date on community outreach opportunities, community clean-ups, and compost management.
Looking to help set up the new Fairfax location? On Saturday, Oct. 5, Area 2 Farms is looking for folks to help clean up trash, pull weeds, and plant seedlings. Make sure to register for this event here.

A big thank-you to reader John C. for catching this detail. In our recent feature on a beautiful estate in Leesburg, we mentioned tennis courts on the property. As it turns out, the listing actually highlights pickleball courts. So while it may not be a dream spot for tennis players, it’s certainly a paradise for pickleball enthusiasts.

Austin Allison sold his first company to Zillow for $120 million. Now he’s building another real estate innovator in Pacaso.
Pacaso has already made $110 million+ in gross profits to date by disrupting the $1.3 trillion vacation home market, and the same big investors that backed Uber and eBay have already invested.
But unlike Austin’s previous companies, everyday investors (like you) can invest in Pacaso as a private company. Over 10,000 individuals already have.

Does anyone have a song or an artist that reminds them of a particular season? For me, The Lumineers are the epitome of fall, and with the seasons finally changing, I can’t stop listening to them. They were just in DC, and sadly, I didn’t snag tickets. Good thing NOVA is chock-full of live music.
