Where to grab a pizza slice in Northern Virginia

Sometimes a whole pizza is just too much... let’s just grab a slice.

You don’t need to travel to New York for the perfect slice of pizza — we have that right here in Northern Virginia. These 10 local joints serve up some of the best individual slices in town. All we’ll say is, if there’s hot honey on the slice, count us in.

Alexandria

Handover By The Slice | Alexandria, VA
🍕 Slice price: $4.50
With a wide variety of slices available for just $4.50, this is the perfect spot to grab a pizza on King Street in Old Town Alexandria. Some options include cheese, veggie, barbecue chicken, and a daily special. You can also enjoy a rotating wine + beer selection to wash down that ‘za.

Don’t believe us, take it from a real New Yorker who left this Google review: “Former NYer, born and raised, and I can tell you this place has the best pizza in the entire Alexandria area. There’s bad pizza, there’s pretentious pizza, and then there’s really good pizza like Handover by the Slice,” J.G.

Benny Diforza’s Pizza | Alexandria, VA
🍕 Slice price: $6-$7.50
Let’s start with the meaning behind “Diforza.” According to the website, it stands for strength, power, and force — symbolizing the bond between Benny and the community. I would splurge for the Havana Heat slice made with chicken, red onions, pineapple + mango habanero drizzle.

Sam’s Pizza Cafe | Alexandria, VA
🍕 Slice price: $6.99-$7.99
If you hate pineapple on pizza, I respect your opinion — even if it’s wrong. We’re pro Hawaiian pizza here, which is one of the six types of pizza you can get. Something else we want to flag is that you’re also able to get calzones — 10 different types, to be exact.

Arlington

Big Tony’s Pizzeria + Dive Bar | Arlington, VA
🍕 Slice price: $4-$5
Located in the Clarendon neighborhood, you can get New York-style pizza by the slice for $5. I’ll be grabbing a slice of It’s A “Situation” with Yo Mama’s Chicken Cutlet, penne, vodka cream sauce with mozzarella cheese, and traditional pizza sauce.

Ravenna Pizza | Arlington, VA
🍕 Slice price: $4.95-$8.95
Craving a trip to Rome? Enjoy Roman-style pizza right here with mouthwatering options like prosciutto and arugula or the Arlington Supreme — topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, Italian sausage, pepperoni, black olives, roasted peppers, and julienned onions. We’re also eyeing up the full-service bar.

Crush Pizza | Arlington, VA
🍕 Slice price: $5-$7
We’ve got a crush… on this pizza. This is one of the many food stands for the community to choose from at National Landing Water Park. We’re going for the Wild Forest slice made with lemon cream sauce, smoked mozz, wild mushrooms, spinach, and caramelized onion stracciatella. If you aren’t craving a slice, they also have subs + salads.

We needed to include this Google review because it pretty much sums up this spot: “Flavor sensation in Crystal City! I thought this was an average, unassuming pizza place, but it’s actually a palace of Parmesan, a mansion of mushrooms, the pinnacle of pizza in DC,” - J. Coley A.

Duccini’s Pizza | Falls Church
🍕 Slice price: $6.99 for cheese + $1 per topping
If you’re looking for a jumbo slice (and we do mean jumbo), head to Duccini’s Pizza for a slice bigger than your head. This option is the most bang for your buck, as it’s equivalent to about two slices of pizza in one. Pizza from Duccini’s is so big, it doesn’t fully fit in the box.

The Dons’ Wood Fired Pizza | Sterling, VA
🍕 Slice price: $3.25-$3.75
This wood-fired pizza spot serves a variety of slices, but two truly unique styles caught our eye. The Korean beef features bulgogi beef, green peppers, red onions, and a bold gochujang sauce. Or go for the Mexicano, topped with chicken sausage, green peppers, jalapeños, and red onions.

Slice Theory | Ashburn, VA
🍕 Slice price: $5-$6
Looking for your next date night idea? Slice Theory serves up delicious pizza just steps away from the Ashburn Ice House. Lace up your skates and take a few laps around the rink — then satisfy your appetite with a hot, fresh slice from Slice Theory. It’s the perfect way to refuel after some time on the ice.

Andy’s Pizza | Various locations
🍕 Slice price: $4.50-$7.50
Named best pizza by outlets like Northern Virginia Magazine and The Washingtonian, this popular NOVA spot has locations in Fairfax, Tysons Galleria, Ballston, Old Town Alexandria, and more. The house favorite? The pepperoni special — red sauce, mozzarella, ‘roni cups, burrata, basil, Mike’s Hot Honey, and parm. Hot honey belongs on pizza.
