Nothing calls for getting comfy at a movie theater like frigid temperatures. With winter in full swing, check out these four local theaters in Northern Virginia — showing both new hits and classics you love.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema | Loudoun, Woodbridge + Crystal City
With two locations in the Northern Virginia area, you can see the newest releases you’ve been dying to check out. Or, if you’re like me, you can elect to catch a classic on the big screen. I would get tickets for “When Harry Met Sally…” on Wednesday, Dec. 31.

Angelika Film Center & Cafe | Fairfax
Located in the heart of the Mosaic District, this theater showcases both new and old films. They also offer a fun series called “Top Secret Cinema” for the true cinephiles — prior to the screening, the only information available is the runtime and the rating.

Cinema Arts Theatre | Fairfax
Head to the Fair City Mall and watch a flick at this popular local theater. Anyone excited to see the newest “Knives Out” movie, “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery”? The theater also offers specialty events like Montage Mondays.

University Mall Theatres | Fairfax
If you’re looking to host a party or a big group, this is the spot for you because you can rent out a theater for yourself. Another perk? All seats are $5 on Tuesdays. There are also plenty of concession options, like chicken tenders, pizza, and the self-labeled “best popcorn in the known universe.”
