New bites around Northern Virginia

Monstera at Water Park in Arlington.
Good news for Water Park. | Photo by Alex McCoy
Looking for the next restaurant hitting NOVA’s food scene? Check out these buzzy places to eat and drink in Northern Virginia — these three opened this month.

Monstera Burrito, 1601 Crystal Dr., Arlington | Burritos
Looking for a West Coast-style breakfast burrito? The DC-based Monstera Burrito is now open at Water Park. They also serve coffee, cocktails, and sandwiches, if a burrito isn’t your thing. I’ll be getting the La Jolla Burrito, which has crispy fries inside. Are you kidding me?

246 Thai Street, 171 Elden St., Herndon | Thai
Thai food is my fav, so I’m very excited to try 246 Thai Street, which recently opened in Herndon. They offer a variety of dishes like Thai curries and fried rice. Now I’m craving pad thai.

Wood & Iron, 3401 Fairfax Dr., Arlington | American
The Richmond-based restaurant Wood & Iron is now open in Arlington’s Virginia Square neighborhood. Along with tasty food and good drinks, there are also plenty of TVs inside and on the outdoor patio for you to catch your game of choice.

News Notes

Eat

McLean is hosting its first-ever restaurant week from Sunday, April 12, through Sunday, April 19. Almost two dozen restaurants will be taking part in the inaugural year. Check out the list. I’m opting for Neutral Ground Bar and Kitchen. (FFXnow)

Real Estate

A home in Old Town Alexandria just sold for $7.1 million. The historic property at 510 Wolfe St. was built in 1854 and was put up for sale last spring. Step inside the 14,000-sqft property — was it worth $7.1 million? (Northern Virginia Magazine)

History

More real estate news for you. Seven properties have been added to the Virginia Landmark Register, and one of them is located in Warrenton. See which properties made the cut. (Northern Virginia Magazine)

Arts

April is National Poetry Month, a time for verse and play, and Alexandria brings events to light the way. Mark your calendars with these offerings. I’m excited for the Poem in Your Pocket Celebration on Thursday, April 23.

Development

The Alexandria water pump saga continues, but a new path is in sight. A fresh proposal aims to tackle flooding — this time without a pump station. Instead, the preferred plan focuses on upgrading the storm sewer system and adding backflow prevention devices. Learn more. (ALXnow)

Civic

Reminder — the 2027 city budget proposals around Northern Virginia are going to be solidified in the coming months. Learn more about the presentations and how you can give feedback.

Health

Your health deserves a plan, not a guess. ReadyRX’s GLP-1 program is designed to support steady progress through expert-led care. If your BMI is 27+, you may qualify for 24/7 medical access and program support. Check your eligibility and save $100 as a new patient with code HEALTH100.*

Post of the Day

Leesburg will soon be home to a new bookstore. The Littlest Bookshop plans to open its first brick-and-mortar location on Wednesday, April 1. This shop specializes in children’s books, so bring your little ones and pick out a new bedtime story.
