Have you ever wondered what would happen if you walked in a straight line around the world from Northern Virginia? Wonder no longer, wanderer.

Let us introduce you to LatLon Connect, an online tool that allows users to explore cities across the world that share the same latitude and longitude.

Here’s what we found

In our search, we stuck with the default settings, looking for places with 100,000+ people with a buffer zone of 6.21 miles (that’s 10 kilometers). We used NOVA’s most populous city, Arlington, as our base.

Dozens of results popped up, with the most populated city lying 3,500 miles south of us: Lima, the capital city of Peru, pictured above. Around 7 million people call its metropolitan area home.

News Notes

Community

If the tap water starts to taste a little funny in Arlington, don’t worry. The annual cleaning of the city’s pipes begins today, swapping its year-round disinfectant, chloramine, for chlorine through the start of May. Using a filter or refrigerating water in an open container for a couple of hours should reduce the effect. (ARLnow)

Mansion Monday

We can’t decide which of the kitchen, outdoor deck, or home gym is the star of the show in this recently listed McLean home. With five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and 4,000+ sqft of living space, the price may surprise you.

List

Inc. Magazine’s 2026 Female Founders 500 list is out, and several business owners from NOVA made the cut. The list highlights women leading companies and nonprofits across the US, including Procure Impact President and Co-Founder Jen Collins.

Development

Developers are trying to add almost 600 housing units to an Idylwood apartment complex. Eaves Fairfax Towers has already filed a rezoning application — proposing a new building, a new parking lot, and at least 100 affordable units included in the plans. (FFXnow)

Today Is

National Puppy Day, a chance to celebrate the young dogs in our lives, or reminisce about a time they were so much smaller. Research shows puppies are far likelier to be adopted than older dogs, but we think 8-year-old Leo deserves a home, too.

Winter gloom is out — spring blooms are in. | Post by National Landing

More cherry blossom content? You bet.

The annual rose-tinted blooms will be gone soon, and National Landing is showcasing the salmon saplings before it’s too late.
