The nation’s collective interest in table tennis exists in a strange time loop: once every four years, as the Summer Olympic Games roll around, interest in the sport spikes.

Now, with the success of “Marty Supreme,” the game is gaining attention again — no Summer Games required. If you want to get ahead of the curve, grab a paddle and head to one of these local spots:
  • The best part of a new hobby? Community. That’s what awaits at the Northern Virginia Table Tennis Club, where members meet regularly to play, socialize, and compete. Pro tip: Non-members can try it out for free.
  • Before heading down, you can check out both Arlington and Alexandria’s city-run schedules, offering drop-in classes for locals looking to learn the game and practice their skills.
  • Walk-ins are also welcome at Fairfax’s Pozez Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia. They have six sessions per week.

Tomorrow, Feb. 17, is Mardi Gras, the annual pre-Lent celebration set to take over streets across the world. The Wrap

I’ve got good news for you. The days are getting warmer, the sun is rising earlier + setting later, and before you know it, you’ll be lounging in the sunshine, clamoring for some AC.

That it’s the middle of winter is no reason to stay home, though. Our events calendar is proof of that.
