Looking for a way to help out your community after the recent snowstorms? Consider adopting a fire hydrant in Fairfax County.
When you sign up for the Adopt a Fire Hydrant Program, you commit to removing not only snow and ice from around the hydrant, but also brush and debris. The overall goal is to ensure complete access in the case of an emergency.
Just a heads-up: You can’t paint, decorate, or block the fire hydrant in any way.
Great American Restaurants is adding two more restaurants to Prince William County. Tommy’s American and Best Buns Bakery & Burgers will open in Gainesville. We’ll share updates as soon as the timing is confirmed. (Northern Virginia Magazine)

Due to the recent snowstorm, Alexandria Restaurant Week is being extended by another week. It will now run through Sunday, Feb. 8, and around 80 restaurants are planning to continue participation. (ALXnow)

Rivergate Park will soon be home to a new memorial for the 67 people killed in last year’s plane crash over the Potomac River. The plan includes a bench, newly planted trees, and a plaque with the names of the 67 victims. Alexandria Mayor Alyia Gaskins said she hopes for it to be installed this spring. (ALXnow)
