News Notes

Opening

Tous les Jours is set to open a new location in NOVA this month at Reston Station. The French-Asian bakery chain already operates more than 1,700 locations worldwide, including spots in Chantilly, Centreville, Burke, and Annandale — all in Fairfax County. (FFXnow)

Try This

Silva + Son, formerly Silva’s Patisserie, has reopened and rebranded in Vienna as a new bakery that serves Mediterranean sandwiches, salads, pastries, and other cuisine. I’m looking to try the chicken and beef shawarma sandwich on freshly baked bread. (FFXnow)

Plan Ahead

The Arlington County Fair runs from Wednesday, Aug. 13, through Sunday, Aug. 17, at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center. Admission is free, with tickets available for rides, food, drinks, and more once you’re inside. Me? I’m just going for the fried Oreos.

Festival

Looking to celebrate Virginia’s Craft Beer Month? Port City Brewing’s Port to Port Beer Festival is Saturday, Aug. 16. Your ticket includes unlimited samples from participating breweries, yard games, and a DJ.

Travel

This 12,000-acre luxury resort in the Blue Ridge Mountains was just named the best in the US for 2025. Imagine the “Pride + Prejudice” mansion with a rustic twist. Primland Resort features farm-to-table dining, spacious suites, a spa, and curated experience packages. If anyone can hook me up with a stay, I’m all ears.

Outdoors

New technology reveals that since the beginning of the year, over 7.8 million pedestrians and bicyclists have been recorded exploring Arlington County’s trails. The system, known as Eco Counter, monitors activity at 35 trail sites across the county. Take advantage of NOVA’s trails. (ARLnow)

State

Tourism in Virginia reached a record high last year, with over 100 million visitors spending ~$35 billion to experience what we call home. From urban cities and historic towns to winding mountain backroads, it’s heartening to know that visitors value the beauty. Plus, their visits saved Virginia households ~$990 in tax revenue. I’m adding another must-visit spot to today’s newsletter because the cutest new hotel just opened in Leesburg — and it’s officially on my staycation list. Hotel Burg, located in historic downtown Leesburg at 208 S. King St., brings all the cozy, quaint vibes. Breakfast in bed, anyone?
