What are you listening to these days? | Photo by LALtoday
Did you know? Every day, Spotify curates a special playlist based on what it thinks your mood is that day. We’ve curated our own playlist for Northern Virginia, perfect for listening on the metro, stuck in traffic, or riding your bike along the Potomac River.
“Arlandria” by the Foo Fighters
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl spent much of his childhood in Virginia, living in both Springfield and Arlington. He even attended Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology during his freshman year. Bonus: the title is said to be a blend of Arlington and Alexandria.
“Sweet Virginia” by The Rolling Stones
How could we not include this one? Living in the sweet, sweet state of Virginia, we can picture ourselves driving, or should we say crawling, down I-95 with our windows down as this song blares in the background.

Nettie’s Tavern, an Appalachian and Italian restaurant, will open in Arlington on Monday, Aug. 11. This new spot boasts a seed oil-free kitchen, serving dishes from spicy vodka rigatoni to a 14-ounce ribeye in cabernet sauvignon gravy. Personally, I’m hankering for the limoncello panna cotta for dessert. (ARLnow)
Open
A new Chinese restaurant has entered the building. Danor Plaza in Vienna is now home to Chef Tan. This spot is serving Hunan-style food at 132 Branch Rd. SE. It’s currently in its soft-opening phase — stay tuned for its grand opening date. (FFXnow)
