Shirlington Dog Park | 2710 S. Oakland St., Arlington
One of the most popular dog parks in Northern Virginia, Shirlington Dog Park was established more than 30 years ago and is located along two acres of the Four Mile Run. The park features two designated off-leash areas where dogs can play freely, though they are not permitted on any of the nearby athletic fields.

Vola’s Dockside Grill and Hi-Tide Lounge | 101 N. Union St., Alexandria
This seafood spot has not one, but two patios for you to dine while sitting with your dog. Eater even named them one of the most dog-friendly patios in the DC area.
Tip: Order grub for your doggo off the Pooch menu. They can nibble on some chicken breast while you enjoy tasty red curry mussels.

A new Tex-Mex restaurant called La Posada is opening in Crystal City this week at 320 23rd St. S. The soft-opening will be Thursday, June 12, where you can enjoy items like roasted poblano braised beef ribs and duck with guajillo sauce. (ARLnow)

A new mini-golf course in Lorton, created by artists at Workhouse Arts Center, also acts as an arts history lesson. Holes pay tribute to various artists ranging from Claude Monet to Frida Kahlo. The grand opening will be 4 p.m. on Friday, June 13. (FFXnow)

Flights at Reagan National will be suspended for about 90 minutes on Saturday, June 14, due to a military parade with flyovers and fireworks. Expect delays, as officials haven’t confirmed exact timing. (WTOP)

Big changes are in the works for the Fair Lakes area in Fairfax County, and the community is seeking public opinion. As the project progresses to stage two, they are looking to update and refine the current vision.
Environment
Air Quality Action Days, a program that runs through September, is raising awareness for bad air quality in the area. When you sign up for air quality alerts, you receive an alert at 4 p.m. the day before a Code Red Day, which means unhealthy air. (ALXnow)
