Plane tickets can be pricey these days, and finding time for a long getaway isn’t always easy. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the feeling of a far-off escape to Europe or Asia without ever leaving Northern Virginia.

Korea

Flee the hustle and bustle with a peaceful visit to Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna. Nestled within the gardens is the stunning Korean Bell Garden, home to a beautifully crafted bell made in South Korea. Adorned with traditional Korean imagery, the bell is housed in a hand-built pagoda that blends artistry with cultural heritage.

Italy

If you’re looking to go to Italy and back in a single night, head over to Trattoria Villagio in Clifton. It truly feels like you’ve crossed the Atlantic Ocean and just arrived in Rome. Enjoy handmade pasta and a raw bar full of various seafood dishes while sitting on a patio that feels oh so European.

California

Why travel all the way to California when you can enjoy delicious wine right here in Northern Virginia? Located in Leesburg, Stone Tower Winery is a family-owned estate that’s been serving guests since 2009. Open Thursday through Monday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., it’s the perfect spot to sip wines while taking in breathtaking views. Be sure to check their events calendar for tastings, live music, and other special happenings throughout the year.

Germany

The Alexandria Bier Garden offers a taste of Germany in the heart of town. Step inside, grab a stein of cold beer, indulge in dishes like schnitzel parmesan, and soak in the festive atmosphere with live polka music. You can also cheer on your favorite soccer team at their vibrant watch parties, which bring the energy of European fandom to life. Prost.

Wyoming

Grab your cowboy boots and hat, it’s time to head to the rodeo. While it’s a little bit outside of NOVA, you still don’t have to travel to Wyoming to make it feel like you’ve entered a good old-fashioned rodeo. Just an hour and a half from Arlington, the Culpeper Rodeo is the perfect place to get your yee-haw on.
